Edith Farnsworth House is excited to announce the opening of Movement: Water Into Wood, an exhibition celebrating the profound legacy of nationally acclaimed Ho-Chunk artist and teacher, Truman Lowe (1944-2019). The exhibition will open to the public on Sunday, March 30 at 2:00 PM with a reception in the Edith Farnsworth House Visitor Center and Barnsworth Gallery. The program will include special remarks by Rebecca Trautmann, author of Water’s Edge: The Art of Truman Lowe, and a selection of light refreshments.

Movement: Water Into Wood highlights Lowe’s masterful use of natural materials, seamlessly interwoven with his Ho-Chunk heritage and his deep connection to canoeing. The exhibition is a tribute to his spirit, always in motion, even in his canoe “when he’s not on earth or in air.”

The March 30 exhibition opening is free, but attendees are asked to RSVP at www.edithfarnsworthhouse.org. Movement: Water Into Wood can be viewed through August 31, 2025, with the purchase of Edith Farnsworth House tour tickets or grounds passes, also available on our website.
