Oswego and Oswego East High Schools Internship and Work Study Program

The Oswego High Schools are eager to partner with Chamber members interested in providing high quality on-the-job experience to seniors. This is a perfect opportunity for business owners to contribute to the future of our community while benefiting from the talented young men and women who will soon be joining the workforce. Two programs are available:

  • Internship – This program pairs a student with a mentor in their chosen future career field.  The 10-12 week program gives the student access to an expert in the field to ask questions about the career as well as observe the environment that the student may be working in.  The mentor has the opportunity to share their experiences, career journey, and advise the student on their future in the industry.
  • I.C.E. – Year long program for Seniors only.  Students are required to work 15 hours or more per week.  Most positions are paid, but some are unpaid if they are interning at an elementary school or other type of facility.  Most students have early release to go work depending on their schedule and credits needed to graduate.  If students are having a hard time finding a job, they can help them place them.  Students earn consumer education credit by taking ICE which is a graduation requirement.
    • First Semester Topics:  Researching Careers; Creating Resumes and Cover Letters, Learning how to apply for a job, Learning interviewing skills
    • Second Semester Topics:  Consumer Rights and Responsibilities, Budgeting, Banking, Taxes, Investing/Saving, Auto, Housing, Credit, Insurance
